Project Description
Pushing up to the pitch
The design of this home explores a dominant gabled form in response to the site constraints – a long narrow site with the natural ground level sloping down to the waterfront backyard. The steep roof forms help to emphasise the primary axis of the site and have been taken advantage of with volume ceilings expressing the raking forms in the internal spaces.
The primary living space has been located at the rear of the lower level, to maximise views and connection to outdoor living spaces. Bedrooms occupy the upper level, with all in some part enjoying the raking ceiling forms. A bridge sits amongst the double height void over the kitchen, providing a secluded connection to the master suite. Split floor levels further demonstrate the response to the site contours, and a break in the main form offers a sheltered courtyard well positioned for sun.
