Sovereign

As a designers home, this project is the result of a productive collaboration of architectural and interior designers.

This dwelling is laid out in a series of sculptural tilting portals, clad with an aluminium weatherboard. All gutters, downpipes and services are concealed in pursuit of the purist of right angle built forms. Secondary panel cladding and glazing is set back to define the portals and offer roof eave protection from rain and sun. External colours were selected as a response to the natural environment with selected highlights offering a hint of the home’s colourful interior.

Window placement was dictated by the exterior design of the home, however these only enhance the substantial views seen from all sides of this hillside property. Efficient room association and a central entrance hallway design limits lost space and creates a fantastic flow from entry through to the main living areas and covered outdoor alfresco living space.
